Call for evidence

Help Us Find the Evidence

The single biggest constraint on this investigation is not analysis. It is baseline material — the records that show what things were like before.

Wanted

Specific material being sought

Historic water test results

Critical

Any private supply test from any year. Older is better — a 1990s result is a baseline nothing else can replace.

Old photographs of the woodland

Critical

Dated photographs showing the X-Area or nearby woodland in earlier years, with original files rather than screenshots.

Mine plans and abandonment plans

Critical

Any plan showing workings beneath or near Carwynnen and Troon, including family copies and estate papers.

Borehole and site investigation logs

High

Ground investigation carried out for building work, drainage or boreholes anywhere in the area.

Building survey reports

High

Homebuyer or structural surveys mentioning cracking, movement, water or mining risk.

Regulator correspondence

High

Letters or emails to or from the Environment Agency, Cornwall Council, Natural England or the HSE about this area.

Wildlife records

Medium

Dated species records, especially repeated over years — bat counts, bird records, dormouse survey data.

Veterinary records

Medium

Where an animal health concern has been professionally assessed.

Insurance and mortgage decisions

Medium

Written decisions referencing ground stability, mining or contamination.

Dated vibration or odour notes

Medium

Diaries, calendars or messages recording when something was felt or smelled, and at what time.

How to supply material safely

  • Send original files, not screenshots or re-photographs — original metadata is often the most valuable part of a photograph.
  • Do not alter, crop, enhance or annotate the original; supply notes separately.
  • Record where the document came from and who has held it.
  • Nothing is published without your consent, and personal details are removed before anything appears.
  • Anything you supply remains yours; you may withdraw it at any time.

Expert time

If you are a hydrogeologist, engineering geologist, mining engineer, environmental chemist, arboriculturalist, ecologist or toxicologist, professional review of the material on this site would be valuable — including review that concludes the concerns are unfounded.

This project would rather publish a well-argued professional dissent than an unchallenged assumption. Reviews received will be published with the reviewer's qualifications and any declared interest.
